WP Text Ads is a WordPress plugin that can let bloggers sell text links directly on their blog, thus there’s no third party text link brokers involved, cutting the middleman’s fee. WP Text Ads comes in two versions - Free and $127/license. The free version has all the features of the paid one except that it limits you to sell only two text link ads. In addition of using this plugin, you can also list your blog in his Marketplace to gain little exposure for potential advertisers. However, the listings in the marketplace uses the rel=”nofollow” attribute when I view-source the listings. Alex Choo from Singapore, the one-man developer of WP Text Ads, has already given details of this WordPress plugin and you can read more about it here.
Advertiser A buys a text link ad at your blog through Company T for $100. Company T takes a 30% commission. You are paid $70 after 30 days or later.
With WP Text Ads, you lower the price to $80 and Advertiser A buys it directly from you.
As a result, you earn $80 immediately ($10 more than before) and Advertiser A saves $20. It’s a win-win situation!
The purpose of this plugin is greatly beneficial for both publishers (bloggers) and advertisers alike. However, this is still only a dream for the small (like Earners Club) to medium players and may not work as it is supposed to be. For a blog to have direct advertiser(s), it must have large number of loyal readers and subscribers. Even though there is WP Text Ads Marketplace, I think it’s not enough to drive-in sales currently as I assumed that people who knew this marketplace are mostly bloggers.

Sounds likes a great option…especially if there are no third parties and you can go directly to the source:) Good luck to WP textads. Nevertheless,if you are looking to diversify your payouts, you should check out http://www.linkworth.com. We currently have a database of over 18,000 partner sites to choose from. Not to mention, we have just recently added a new product called linkpost->great incentive for bloggers who want to make a little extra dough on what they would have already been writing about. You can write a linkpost, charge what you feel is sufficient and get paid for it.
Anyhow, I wanted to throw out our name and introduce myself. Once again, great blog and good luck to WP Text Ads!

That’s an expensive license. They should introduce more tiers for the license, so that smaller blogs can get into the market.
To save the $127, I would prefer to write my own script I think.

Thanks for the feedback so far, folks!
I know the $127 is a sticking point. But with the upcoming affiliate program, which pays very generously, and the fact you pay no commissions, the price can be recouped quickly if you manage to hit the limits.

This seems interesting. By the sounds of things after reading your post it seems that this is on the same or similar concept as text-link-ads and textlinkbrokers, unless I’ve read something wrong or miss-understood how it works.

@Affiliate Seeking:
It’s different from TLA because there is no middleman. That’s why you do not pay any commissions with WP Text Ads, and earn much more revenue per sale.

Do you support PHP-based sites only, not WordPress?
I agree, $127 is too much, esp. to those startups.

Hi,
WP Text Ads works only on WordPress.
A better to way to look at the price of WP Text Ads is to see the value it gives you.
The free version will make you plenty.
If you sell $200 of links through a middleman, you’ll be paying $100 in commissions. With the full license of WP Text Ads, you pay $127 once and keep all your commissions forever.
